Helena Lewis MA, Arts Psychotherapist
Helena is a qualified Integrative Arts Psychotherapist. She is experienced in working with issues around body image and eating disorders, depression, anxiety and self-esteem and addictive behaviours such as alcohol and drug misuse and self-harm. Helena has worked with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and is skilled in offering both short and long-term support. She is also experienced in working with children and adolescents’ emotional issues, particularly where these are affecting their education. Central to Helena’s way of working is the creation of a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship and a commitment to realistic and meaningful change for each individual client.
Arts Psychotherapy offers individuals the opportunity to explore and resolve their issues, providing a powerful medium for increased self-awareness and expression. For some, the arts can be a vital part of the therapeutic process – enabling them to express feelings that they may not have been conscious of, or that may be too difficult to communicate directly. The art forms Helena uses include drawing, painting, clay modeling, creative writing and drama. Using the arts is optional and does not compromise the therapy in any way.
