Sophie Brewer

Sophie is a HCPC registered Podiatrist who has been practicing for 8 years and has worked in a variety of high risk NHS and Private clinics. She is proactive in her application of treatments and dedicated to upholding outstanding care.

Sophie performed as a Band 7 Podiatrist in Greenwich NHS Trust with a Musculoskeletal Speciality. She treats a range of conditions to improve patient mobility through corn and callus removal and verruca treatments (including Salicylic Acid and Liquid Nitrogen treatments, Dry Needling and Microwave Therapy) and maintains healthy feet by performing diabetic and general health checks. She carries out Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) surgery and can prescribe and evaluate antibiotic interventions if required.

She specialises in Biomechanics and Gait assessments and prescribes requisite treatment programmes including strengthening exercises, massage, athletic taping, bracing, X-ray/ultrasound/MRI imaging, targeted muscle group stretching, onwards referral to allied health professionals, steroid injections, footwear and sports advice. She also can perform Shockwave Therapy to resolve ongoing tendinopathies.

Sophie has a large experience in fitting insole adjustments, taking casts and using 3D scanners to prescribe semi-custom and custom-made orthosis. She also uses treadmill machines to assess running technique, muscular weakness and develops tailored rehabilitation programmes to improve sports performance.

She is engaged with continuing professional development; and has published multiple educational articles. Post-qualifying she has attained an Acupuncture qualification, which she has used to successfully treat joint pain, plantar fasciitis, Achilles pain, shin splints, previous fracture sites and neuromas. She has also undertaken training in ‘Manipulation of the Foot and Ankle’ so that she can provide manipulation and mobilisation of joints in relation to rear, mid and forefoot pain.

Sophie has provided podiatry healthcare for various charities both in the UK and internationally and volunteers for the Christmas Quaker House Homeless Shelter. She recently worked as part of the COVID-19 Nightingale Hospital as a Band 8a Education Faculty Member. She enjoys travel, swimming and cycling.
