Lisa Cotter
Lisa is a qualified integrative psychotherapist and counsellor offering a compassionate, relaxed and confidential space to explore current and past issues which may be impacting your life. She additionally holds a PhD in Psychology and has spent many years working across the NHS and private mental health services, as well as charitable organisations, bereavement services and the education sector.
As an integrative therapist, Lisa has been trained in a range of therapeutic approaches which means she can tailor your sessions to suit your needs and explore ways of moving forwards together, at a pace you feel comfortable with. She has experience working in women’s health, post-natal support, youth and adolescent development, cancer support, bereavement, relationship difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression and eating disorders. Lisa’s practice is primarily informed by psychodynamic and humanistic approaches which means you might choose to explore issues presenting for you in the here-and-now, and also things you have experienced in the past. Central to Lisa’s practice is belief that the therapeutic relationship – your relationship as client and therapist – is integral in supporting an effective and positive experience of therapy.
Clients have shared that they experience Lisa as warm, open and personable; she seeks to build a strong, trusting relationship where you can feel seen and heard, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the challenges you may be facing. Lisa offers both brief counselling for shorter periods where you can gain practical skills and knowledge for particular issues, or longer-term psychotherapy to explore your experiences in more depth.
She is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (registration number: 402043) and adheres to their code of ethics. Lisa provides one-to-one therapy for adults of all ages and young people from the age of 16.
