Clair Astin

Clair is a qualified cognitive behavioural therapist, she started her career as as art director in the fast-paced advertising industry, so has lots of first-hand knowledge of stress and anxiety in the workplace. In 2009, Clair graduated in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at the University of Westminster. It was whilst treating clients with stress and related health issues, that she started to explore how the positive effects of CBT could further enhance acupuncture treatment. Clair went on to qualify in CBT / Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), at the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies in London

She has experience working with clients at Anxiety UK and Headstrong (charity) and fully accredited with The National Counselling Society.

The fundamental belief behind Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is that what we ‘think’ affects how we feel and behave.

What defines REBT is that it focuses on the present, what’s happening in the here and now, rather than looking to the past. REBT argues that at the core of emotional disturbance lies a set of irrational beliefs that people hold about themselves, other people or the world around them. The focus of the therapy is to identify, question and change these irrational thoughts and encourage a more flexible approach to living that will increase personal satisfaction and wellbeing at home and in the workplace.

Anxiety, social,  health and general anxiety disorder

Panic disorder, fear of losing control, panic attacks

OCD. Around health, contamination, symmetry safety

Work. procrastination. Assertive techniques. Perfectionism low self-esteem, aggression, stress

Depression. Low mood guilt negative thinking

Appointments with Clair are available:

  • Thursday: 8am - 2pm
  • Saturday: 9am - 2pm
