Expert Acupuncture At The White Hart Clinic
Traditional acupuncture has been practised in China and other East Asian countries for thousands of years. It takes a broad view of health and wellbeing, rather than focusing only on one particular symptom.
Traditional Chinese medicine is based on the idea of Qi – an energy flow that travels through the body through pathways known as meridians. When this flow is disrupted, it is thought to affect how someone feels. During treatment, the acupuncturist places very fine needles into selected points on the body, with the aim of restoring the balance of Qi.
People often seek acupuncture for help with pain, tension and certain types of headaches or migraines. Some also choose it to support fertility or digestive issues, as well as relaxation and general wellbeing.
What to expect:
- A detailed case history covering your symptoms, medical background and lifestyle
- Pulse/ Tongue diagnosis and gentle palpation
- A gentle treatment, and where appropriate techniques such as moxibustion
- A relaxing session in which you can rest while the needles do their work.
Common reasons to see an acupuncturist:
- Musculoskeletal pain such as back, neck, shoulder or knee pain
- Gynaecological concerns including hormone regulation and fertility support
- Headaches and migraines
- Stress, anxiety and low mood
- Digestive problems such as IBS
- Sleep difficulties and fatigue
