Expert Bladder & Bowel Problems Treatment At The White Hart Clinic

Bladder and bowel problems refer to changes in how you pass urine or open your bowels, such as needing to go urgently, going more often than usual, difficulty emptying fully or problems with control.

These symptoms are common for both men and women and can occur at any stage of life. While common, they are not an inevitable part of ageing.

Healthy bladder and bowel function relies on coordinated activity between the pelvic floor muscles, abdominal wall, diaphragm and nervous system. When this coordination is disrupted, symptoms can develop.

Common bladder and bowel conditions our Pelvic Health Physiotherapists treat:

  • Urinary incontinence – leakage during activities such as coughing, sneezing, running or urgency-related leakage
  • Urinary urgency and frequency – feeling a sudden, strong need to urinate or needing to go more often than normal
  • Overactive bladder – frequent urges to urinate, sometimes with leakage
  • Nocturia – waking multiple times during the night to urinate
  • Bladder pain, including bladder pain syndrome/ Interstitial Cystitis
  • Faecal (bowel) incontinence – leakage of stool or difficulty controlling bowel movements
  • Constipation – difficulty emptying the bowels or needing to strain
  • Obstructed defecation – feeling unable to fully empty the bowels
  • Painful bowel movements, including conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Anal sphincter dysfunction – weakness or poor coordination of the muscles controlling the bowel

How our Pelvic Health Physiotherapists can help:

  • Assess bladder and bowel symptoms to identify the underlying cause
  • Provide pelvic floor exercises to improve strength, control and coordination
  • Teach bladder retraining techniques to reduce urgency and frequency
  • Offer strategies to improve bowel habits and relieve constipation
  • Give practical advice on fluid intake, diet and lifestyle factors

I had an appointment with Levi regarding a foot problem and I was so impressed with his knowledge and attentive detail, providing a much more holistic service than you would expect to receive.

As a former sports professional, I've experienced many massage therapists in my time, but I've extensively seen Katherine Ranson over the years and stands out above them all. Her expertise, precision and understanding of the human body are exceptional. Massage is far more than just qualifications and her skills truly sets her apart from the rest. If I had to name a GOAT (Greatest of All time) in this field, it would be her.

Grace gave me a good analysis of my shoulder blade muscle pain followed by a very useful set of exercises. These have worked well and are now part of my routine.

My thanks to Cheli for her excellent massage therapy which is easing a persistent foot & leg injury. She has experience of working with injured dancers (I am not one!) and brings that knowledge to help me. A lovely, kind and thoughtful person - with a holistic approach.

Cheli is brilliant. I have a bulging disc in my neck (C7) which causes numbness in my arms if the stress builds up. A few sessions with Cheli and I’m back to normal. Highly recommended

Grace has been excellent in analysing and treating the pain in the outside of my knee. After the first session there was a vast improvement through the exercises she gave me but this then stayed at a lesser but constant level. Grace was clear in her original diagnosis and added on some more specific exercises/ weights that I can incorporate in my normal session. The pain has now almost gone after 6 sessions over a few months.

Grace Newport-Tucker was excellent throughout my physio treatment for my calf injury. She got me on an excellent recovery programme, which was thoughtfully customised to my needs, and provided very helpful knowledge throughout. I highly recommend her as a sports physio!

I have a superb series of treatments from Grace at the White Hart Clinic. I'd had a long term issue with bicep tendons, and after working with Grace this has completely gone. I would highly recommend this physiotherapist to any current or former athletes in need of support.
