Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) occurs when the muscles, ligaments and connective tissues at the base of the pelvis do not work optimally.
These muscles support the bladder, bowel and (in women) the uterus. They help control continence, support sexual function and stabilise the core. Although over 60% of women will experience symptoms of pelvic floor in their lifetime, many go untreated.
