Expert Vestibular Physiotherapy At The White Hart Clinic
Vestibular physiotherapy, also known as vestibular rehabilitation, can help people experiencing dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness or problems with their balance.
Your balance depends on information from your inner ears, eyes and body being processed by your brain. When this system is not working as well as it should, it can cause dizziness, blurred or unstable vision, unsteadiness and difficulty walking.
Treatment will depend on your symptoms and what is found during your assessment. It may include exercises to improve control of your eye and head movements, balance retraining, walking exercises and movements designed to help your brain gradually adapt to the symptoms. Certain types of positional vertigo may also be treated using specific repositioning manoeuvres.
What to expect:
- A detailed discussion about your symptoms, medical history, triggers and how dizziness is affecting your daily life
- A specialist assessment of eye movements, balance, head movement and positional testing where appropriate
- A clear explanation of what is causing your dizziness and how vestibular rehabilitation can help
- Treatment in your first session, which may include repositioning manoeuvres or guided exercises
- A personalised rehabilitation plan designed around your goals, with follow-up appointments to support your progress and recovery
- Where symptoms suggest that further investigation is needed, we will advise you whether to contact your GP, audiologist or an ENT specialist.
