Expert Menopause MOT At The White Hart Clinic
For many women, perimenopause and menopause is a time to take stock of their health. A Menopause MOT is a specialist pelvic-health physiotherapy assessment designed to look at your pelvic floor, bladder and bowel health, movement, strength and exercise.
We introduced the service in 2016, and it has become a popular appointment for women who have symptoms or simply want advice about looking after their pelvic health as they move through menopause.
Your Menopause MOT may include:
- A discussion about your general health, menopause symptoms and any changes to your bladder, bowel or sexual health
- A review of your current exercise routine, with advice on maintaining strength, fitness and bone health
- An assessment of your movement, abdominal muscles, breathing and core strength
- A pelvic-floor assessment, including an internal examination where appropriate and only with your agreement
- Advice on pelvic-floor exercises, based on your individual strength and symptoms
- A discussion about sleep, stress, nutrition and other factors that may be affecting how you feel
- Advice or onward referral if you may benefit from support from a GP, gynaecologist, menopause specialist, dietitian or women’s-health fitness professional
You will leave the appointment with a clearer understanding of your pelvic health, practical exercise advice and a pelvic-floor programme tailored to you. We can also provide general information about menopause treatments and help you decide whether to speak to your GP or a menopause specialist about HRT or other medical options.
