Expert Treatment For Pain During Exercise Or Sexual Activity At The White Hart Clinic

Pain during exercise or sexual activity can often be linked to how the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding structures are functioning. These muscles need to be able to both contract and relax effectively. If they are overactive, weak, or not coordinating well with the rest of the body, this can lead to discomfort, tension or pain.

In some cases, symptoms may also be related to increased sensitivity or irritation of the nerves in the pelvic region, which can contribute to pain during movement or intimacy.

Common symptoms we treat:

  • Pain during or after exercise, particularly with impact or core-based activities
  • Pelvic heaviness, pressure or discomfort during movement
  • Pain during sexual intercourse (dyspareunia)
  • Difficulty with penetration or discomfort using tampons
  • Pelvic or lower abdominal pain during or after activity
  • Muscle tightness or cramping in the pelvic region
  • Pain that worsens with certain movements or positions

How our Pelvic Health Physiotherapists can help:

  • Assessment and diagnosis to identify the underlying causes of pain, including pelvic floor muscle tension, weakness or coordination issues
  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation to improve muscle control by strengthening weak muscles and releasing overactive or tight areas
  • Movement and exercise guidance to modify and retrain technique, reducing strain and supporting a safe return to activity
  • Pain management using hands-on treatment and targeted techniques to reduce pain and muscle tension
  • Breathing and relaxation strategies to support better coordination between the diaphragm, core and pelvic floor
  • Lifestyle and posture advice to guide daily habits, positioning and load management
  • Sexual health support to address pain during intercourse and support a gradual, comfortable return to intimacy

I had an appointment with Levi regarding a foot problem and I was so impressed with his knowledge and attentive detail, providing a much more holistic service than you would expect to receive.

As a former sports professional, I've experienced many massage therapists in my time, but I've extensively seen Katherine Ranson over the years and stands out above them all. Her expertise, precision and understanding of the human body are exceptional. Massage is far more than just qualifications and her skills truly sets her apart from the rest. If I had to name a GOAT (Greatest of All time) in this field, it would be her.

Grace gave me a good analysis of my shoulder blade muscle pain followed by a very useful set of exercises. These have worked well and are now part of my routine.

My thanks to Cheli for her excellent massage therapy which is easing a persistent foot & leg injury. She has experience of working with injured dancers (I am not one!) and brings that knowledge to help me. A lovely, kind and thoughtful person - with a holistic approach.

Cheli is brilliant. I have a bulging disc in my neck (C7) which causes numbness in my arms if the stress builds up. A few sessions with Cheli and I’m back to normal. Highly recommended

Grace has been excellent in analysing and treating the pain in the outside of my knee. After the first session there was a vast improvement through the exercises she gave me but this then stayed at a lesser but constant level. Grace was clear in her original diagnosis and added on some more specific exercises/ weights that I can incorporate in my normal session. The pain has now almost gone after 6 sessions over a few months.

I have a superb series of treatments from Grace at the White Hart Clinic. I'd had a long term issue with bicep tendons, and after working with Grace this has completely gone. I would highly recommend this physiotherapist to any current or former athletes in need of support.
